Arsenal’s push for mega triple-signing shows they mean business

Arsenal face a battle next season to claw their way back into the Premier League’s top-four after missing out on Champions League football for the first time under Arsene Wenger last season, with the Gunners finishing fifth in the standings.

A wealth of changes were expected to take place at the Emirates Stadium this summer, with Wenger’s future being called into question and the Gunners reportedly seeking a Director of Football, but the situation has shifted dramatically.

Wenger penned a new two-year deal at the end of the campaign and it’s now being reported that a Director of Football will point be appointed at the Emirates Stadium this summer- which has led to outcry from some supporters, as they believe their club is not approving the sort of changes they wanted.

That raises the significance of Arsenal’s activity in the summer window as it means major signings are necessary to appease angry supporters- which is why reports from The Telegraph that indicate Arsenal are pushing for three huge deals are crucial.

The reports indicate Arsenal are ready to raid French football this summer for the services of Monaco pairing Kylian Mbappe and Thomas Lemar, whilst the Gunners also have their sights set on Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette- all of whom are likely to cost club-record sums.

Mbappe is attracting a wealth of interest from across European football and Arsenal face a huge battle to secure his signature, whilst winger Lemar is also attracting rival interest from across North London- and the Gunners certainly can’t afford to miss out on a prime target and see the ace move to Spurs.

Links to Lacazette’s services come after years of speculation suggesting the French striker will move to the Premier League and he’d be a significant upgrade on Arsenal’s current options up front, although Lyon are demanding an audacious price for his signature.

All in all though, the reports indicate once again that Arsenal are ready to go for broke this summer in an attempt to turn things around a push for a Premier League title that has eluded their grasp since the Gunners finished an entire campaign undefeated 13 years ago.

The fact that Arsenal could potentially break their club transfer record three times this summer is also an indication of the Gunners intent and major signings will be needed to appease supporters- especially after it became clear there won’t be significant changes elsewhere.
