Arsenal’s Latest Target ‘Flattered’ By Interest

Arsenal are reportedly tracking the progression of Eintracht Frankfurt starlet Aymen Barkok. The 19-year-old, who scored two goals in five Bundesliga appearances since breaking into Frankfurt’s first-team last year, has been on Arsene Wenger’s radar for a while and reports in Germany have linked the midfielder with a move to the Emirates.

Recently, Barkok has spoken out about the speculation linking him with a move to Arsenal. The youngster said he is ‘flattered’ by the rumours, saying it would be ‘great’ to play European football. However, he did also admit that he might have to prove his ability in the Bundesliga first.

“To be honest, I learned from the press.” Barkok told German outlet Weisbadener Kurier.

“I have not received a request yet. But, of course, I am flattered.”

“It would be great to play in the Europa League or Champions League.”

“But that is still a long way away. I have to prove myself in the Bundesliga.”

German outlet Spox previously reported that Arsenal had launched an offer for the 19-year-old, so it is not the first time that the player has been linked to the club.

Barkok is an all-round midfielder who mainly plays an attacking midfield role, however, he has stated that he is comfortable playing any role in the midfield.

“I feel most comfortable playing the eight or 10. At the European Championship, I also played on the left front, but I can handle it as a six. I think I am very flexible.” said Barkok.
