Arsenal’s Fifth Signing Of The Summer Has Been Confirmed

Arsenal have signed Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney, the club have confirmed. The 22-year-old has put pen to paper on a “long-term deal” according to the Gunners.

The fee is reportedly £25m, with the defender set to wear the no.3 shirt. Manager Unai Emery has said he is looking forward to working with the Scottish international:

“We’re delighted Kieran is joining us. He’s a very talented player who will continue to improve. He increases our options defensively and I look forward to him joining our group.”

Tierney won’t be able to play against Newcastle on Sunday. The fullback has missed pre-season after undergoing a double hernia operation in the summer.

He has been unable to take part in full training sessions due to Osteitis Pubis but it is believed that the inflammation has started to settle down and he is expected to return to fitness in the next seven day to ten days.

Tierney is likely to make his debut for Arsenal before the end of the month. He will provide competition for both Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac on the left-hand side of defence.
