Arsenal Withdraw From Race To Sign £22.5m Midfield Maestro Due To Thomas Partey

Arsenal will not follow up their interest in Red Bull Salzburg attacking midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, according to Football.London.

The Hungarian international has been watched by the Gunners on several occasions over the past year and his agent has recently confirmed that there are “several offers” for the 19-year-old.

However, despite Szoboszlai having a £22.5m release clause, Arsenal are said to be keen on investing their money in a box to box midfielder instead.

Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey is the player head coach Mikel Arteta is reportedly very keen to add to his squad but his high asking price makes a deal unlikely at this stage.

There have been reports in Ghana that the 26-year-old will sign a new contract at Atletico, although those claims have yet to be substantiated.

If Partey did decide to leave, though, the Gunners would need to finance the transfer either through player sales or a potential swap deal.
