Arsenal Weigh Up Free Transfer Swoop For Defender With 4 Goals And 3 Assists So Far This Season

Arsenal are considering whether to snap up Ajax fullback Noussair Mazraoui on a free transfer, according to ESPN.

The website claims that both the Gunners and Leeds are keeping tabs on the Moroccan international, who will be able to speak to foreign clubs in the New Year with his contract expiring in June.

Mazraoui has been in excellent form for Ajax so far this campaign, having scored four goals and contributed three assists in only 16 appearances.

The 24-year-old has come through the youth system at the Amsterdam club, having made his first-team debut against NAC Breda in a league match back in February 2018.

Mazraoui was originally deployed as a holding midfielder but he has made his name at senior level as a right-back; an area of the pitch where the Gunners could do with strengthening.

Although the club did sign Takehiro Tomiyasu from Bologna in the summer, Cedric has struggled for form this season, whilst Hector Bellerin is unlikely to remain at the London club after he returns from his loan spell at Real Betis.
