Arsenal Way Behind Title Rivals When It Comes To Transfers

The Gunners lost Belgium striker, Divock Origi to Premier League rivals Liverpool. Lille’s player has reached an agreement with Liverpool who are expected to pay £6million for the player who is currently in Brazil with his national team. According to talkSPORT, the 19 year old was on Wenger’s wish-list for a while now. Unfortunately the Frenchman moved too slow, just as expected, and missed out on a great choice for a striker. Origi would have made a great addition to the team who now have just Giroud and Sanogo to play in front of goal.

The youngster who scored 5 times for Lille during his last season, will continue with the French side for one more year. He will no longer be their player though and he will perform under a loan contract. This is probably why things did not go Wenger’s way. The Frenchman probably needed someone who is available for next season considering the Gunners’ lack of players.

If Lille would have agreed to let Origi leave right after the World Cup, Arsenal might have snatched him from under Liverpool and Tottenham’s noses. It would have been nice to finally see Wenger move on the transfer market considering how active all the other title contenders have been over the past week despite the World Cup still being underway.

We can only hope Arsene has a much busier 2nd half to the summer than he has had in the 1st half.
