Arsenal are “waiting” to sign former Chelsea forward Diego Costa on a free transfer, according to AS. The Spanish international is currently with Atletico Madrid but he has requested to have his contract terminated for family reasons.
It remains to be seen whether the La Liga side will agree to his demands, but the player is thought to be keen on staying in Europe once he has resolved his personal problems. Despite being 32 years of age, the striker believes he still has two to three years at the top of his game.
AS claim a return to London would interest Costa, who had four successful years at Chelsea. A falling out with manager Antonio Conte led to him moving back to Spain to rejoin Atletico back in 2018.
The Gunners are looking at adding another striker to the squad, despite having Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, and they are reportedly prepared to swoop in if Costa is released from his contract.
