Arsenal Vying With La Liga Giants For German Under 21 Defender

Arsenal are interested in RB Leipzig defender Lukas Klostermann, according to reports in Spain.

Both the Gunners and Atletico Madrid are believed to be keeping tabs on the 23-year-old who has had a good season at club and international level.

Klostermann played every game at the European Under 21 Championships this summer as Germany lost out to Spain in the final.

He also made his debut for the national team at senior level having been selected by manager Joachim Low to play Serbia in a friendly back in March.

Klostermann was part of the best defence in the Bundesliga last season, with Leipzig letting in just 29 goals in 34 matches. The German side are reportedly reluctant to let the player leave this summer.

He generally plays as a right-back but can play right across the back four, and would perfectly fit a 3-5-2 formation, a system Gunners boss Unai Emery employed regularly last season.
