The horrific injury to Danny Welbeck in the 0-0 draw against Sporting Lisbon on Thursday cast a shadow over Arsenal’s qualification for the Europa League knockout stages.

The England international suffered a serious ankle break and is likely to be out for a number of months. Stephen Lichtsteiner was also injured in the game, with manager Unai Emery confirming his substitution on 73 minutes was due to a muscular injury.

In terms of other team news, Nacho Monreal is back in training after a hamstring problem and could make his first-team comeback in the Wolves fixture on Sunday.

Mohamed Elneny is unavailable with a thigh injury, but he has expected to return to full training within a week. Another player who is close to a return to full fitness is Laurent Koscielny.

The Frenchman has been out with an Achilles injury since the end of last season, but he looks to be on course for a return to the first team after the international break.

Konstantinos Mavropanos is also expected to be fit following a groin issue before the end of the month.

For Wolves, Nuno Espirito Santo has just one injury concern heading into the clash at the Emirates. They are monitoring the fitness of Diogo Jota who missed the 3-2 defeat to Spurs last Saturday. Ivan Cavaleiro will likely continue to deputise in his absence.
