Arsenal vs Manchester City- Match Preview

Arsenal come into Sunday’s match against Manchester City sitting outside of the top 4 in the Premier League for the first time since the very early part of the season and it is only the 2nd time they have been outside the top 5 in the League as late as April under the management of Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal have lost both of their last 2 Premier League games by the score of  3-1. They lost last time out to West Brom and to Liverpool before that so it is safe to say that they need to return to form if they want to continue their 20 season streak of qualifying for the Champions League, a streak which is only surpassed by Real Madrid.

The Gunners’ home record against Man City does favour them as they have only lost once in their last 19 home matches against the Citizens and they have won 12 of those while drawing 6. Arsene Wenger will be desperate for his side to continue their form against City as they need to get on a winning streak in the League as they have only won once in their last 5 games in the League – a 2-0 win over Hull City while losing the other 4 games.

Pep Guardiola ‘s City side are bidding to do the double over Arsenal in the league for the 1st time since way back in the 1975/76 season.

Pep has a clear advantage over his Arsenal rival as he has won 5, drawn 2 and only lost 2 games in the last 9 matches between the two managers. Pep has already lost 5 games as City boss this season but he has never lost 6 games in a season as a manager.

City come into this match in not so good form in the League either having only won once in their last 3 Premier League games and drawing twice. City did manage to salvage a 1-1 draw last time out against Liverpool while Arsenal went down by a 3-1 scoreline in their last but one match against Jurgen Klopp’s team.

Sunday’s match at the Emirates is the first of 2 games that the sides will play against each other this month. The two sides will face each other again on April 23rd at Wembley Stadium in the Emirates FA Cup semi-final so both teams will be keen to win this first match and set the tone for the 2nd match later in the month.

If you are the betting type or like gambling why not place a bet on either or both of the two matches. With Champions League qualification still very much in the balance next season we can be sure of a classic Premier League match on Sunday plus Arsenal will be desperate to get back to winning ways and register a victory ahead of the FA Cup semi-final.
