Arsenal vs Brentford: Team news and predicted starting XI

Everything you need to know about tonight’s clash with Brentford

Arsenal welcome Championship high flyers Brentford to The Emirates this evening as they begin their Carabao Cup campaign on home soil.

Unai Emery’s side have been in a rich vein of form, winning all five of their last games in all competitions, and they will hope to continue that run against the Bees.

That being said, a tough game this weekend against Watford awaits, meaning the Spaniard could make a number of changes to the XI that beat Everton on Sunday.

In goal, Bernd Leno should get the nod for his first Arsenal start, with the German likely to see a makeshift back-four of Nacho Monreal, Rob Holding, Shkodran Mustafi and Stephan Lichtsteiner ahead of him.

Mohamed Elneny and Mateo Guendouzi are favoured in holding midfield, with Mesut Ozil set to start in the number 10 role.

Alex Iwobi is expected to start on the left, while youngster Eddie Nketiah could be given the chance to shine in the out right. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will start up-front, with Emery keen to rest first choice striker Alexandre Lacazette ahead of the weekend.

Injury news

Summer signing Sokratis is ruled out having picked up a knock at the weekend, as too is Henrikh Mkhitiaryan. The Armenian could start on the bench however. Carl Jenkinson, Laurent Koscielny and Ainsley Maitland-Niles all remain absent, while Sead Kolasinac will also miss out despite returning to training earlier this week.

Suspensions

Arsenal have no suspensions.
