Arsenal looking to snap up Atletico Madrid holding midfielder Thomas Partey in the summer, according to Libertad Digital. The Spanish website claims that the Gunners are “very serious” about signing the Ghanaian international and are willing to pay the player’s release clause.
The 26-year-old can currently be signed for €50m (£43m), and Mikel Arteta’s side have reportedly already registered their interest with the player’s entourage.
However, Atletico are not going to let Thomas go without a fight. They are said to be unhappy with how Arsenal have made their approach for the player, and they will more than likely offer a new contract which would increase the buyout fee.
The Ghanaian still has over three years left to run on his current deal at the Wanda Metropolitano, but he is a key player for manager Diego Simeone. He has made 33 appearances in all competitions this campaign, scoring three goals and contributing one assist.
