Arsenal Unable To Win Battle Against Juventus

Arsenal will have to look elsewhere in order to sign a new striker after Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata looks close to signing with Italian champions Juventus. According to talkSPORT, the 21 year old who has been targeted by Wenger since the winter transfer period, chose to close a 4 year deal with the Serie A winners who probably promised him a spot in the starting line-up. If Morata would have joined Arsenal he might have spent just as much time on the bench as he did in Madrid, given Giroud’s excellent form.

Morata helped Real reap £17.5million. The young striker who scored 10 Primera Divison goals in his 37 appearances might have been too expensive for Wenger who is looking for a low cost solution to replace Bendtner and compete with Sanogo. There are no actual targets available for the Frenchman considering Giroud is at the peak of his career. Bringing in someone better or just as good is difficult considering the fact that the 28 year old striker is valued at £20million which would make Lukaku or Benzema the only ones who represent a decent alternative.

It is a pity though that Morata will not come to the Emirates. He was young and powerful and seemed very efficient in front of goal. Wenger could have done a great job in integrating him in Arsenal’s starting eleven considering how youth oriented the Frenchman’s mentality is when it comes to putting together the Gunners’ starting line-up.
