Arsenal Turned To Lazio For Some Fire Power Without Success

According to Metro, Arsenal’s most wanted, Julian Draxler is going to stay with Schalke at least until the end of the season. The Gunners who have been repeatedly linked to the 20 year old attacking midfielder seem to have hit a standstill because of the German side’s financial expectations.

Schalke look interested in letting him leave but only if the bid coming their way is close to Draxler’s release clause which will become active during the summer. Arsenal are not willing to pay more than £30 million meaning they are £7 million short of the Germans’ asking price.

With little time left until the transfer window closed, Wenger turned his attention to another more experienced German player. Lazio’s Miroslav Klose was a last resort for the Gunners who are in desperate need of some fire power for the second half of the season. The 35 year old who has been one of the most efficient strikers of all time, would not come to London on loan.

Since moving to Italy, Klose made 69 appearances and scored 33 goals. He would have been a viable alternative for Bendtner who is totally out of touch with what Arsenal have planned for the near future. Despite being well over 30, the German international would have been a great option but it was not to be.
