Arsenal Turn To La Liga For Attacking Option

There’s been so much talk about who will be Arsenal’s new striker for this season but none of the rumors have turned out to be true so far. There was Aubameyang, Griezmann, Higuain or Lacazette but no one stopped to think that Wenger is the type of manager who sticks to his habits. The Frenchman repeatedly stated that he spends the club’s money as if it were his own and also mentioned that the whole negotiation and transfer process is not something to treat lightly. Looking at last season’s transfer pattern, the next and probably last transfer Wenger will make this summer will be around £15million. For this amount none of the above fit the profile.

According to the Mirror, Arsenal might have found a solution for the attack in the form of Deportivo la Coruna’s Lucas Perez. He has a decent scoring rate and according to stats, has reached his career peak last year. He also seems to maintain that efficiency in front of goal this season as well as he already managed to score a goal for his club in the first official game of the summer.

Perez is now 27 and will be turning 28 in two weeks. He is versatile in the sense he can play as a second striker as well. He usually delivers quite a lot of assists during one season playing a similar position to that of Lacazette. With the proper support, he might end up doubling his numbers in 1 or 2 years. In terms of fitness, he suffered his first injury in July 2014 and needed a few weeks to recover. He has had few other injuries.

The Spaniard signed with Deportivo in August last year but the idea of playing in the Champions League is not something you can pass up. There are some rumors that he has been on Everton’s wanted list as well for quite a while now. If that’s the case, Arsenal may have the upper hand still as the Toffees cannot offer him the chance to play in the Champions League.
