Arsenal Turn To Kallstrom, Draxler Stays

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal have quickly moved on from the disappointment of balking at the £37 million asking price for Schalke striker Julian Draxler, and have now reportedly closed a loan deal for Swedish international midfielder Kim Kallstrom from Spartak Moscow.

Arsene Wenger has once again kept his transfer dealings secret from the media, but has been focusing on getting deals through before tonight’s 11pm deadline. Despite Wenger’s constant refusal, Draxler had been Arsenal’s main target after losing Theo Walcott through injury for the rest of the campaign. However, the delegation sent by the London based club to Germany has decided to refuse the hefty price tag by the German club.

Kallstrom brings more experience into the club for the small fee quoted. Having played for six years at French side Lyon, the 31-year old will be valuable addition to the squad. Kallstrom is being touted as a solution to the injury sustained by Aaron Ramsey which could keep the Welshman out for another 4-6 weeks.

Reports suggest Kallstrom has been at the training ground undergoing a medical, and the Gunners got the deal signed before the deadline.
