Arsenal Turn To £23m Rated Roma Star As Club Step Up Search For Partey Alternative

Arsenal are interested in signing Roma holding midfielder Amadou Diawara, according to ASRomaLive.it. The Italian website claims that the Guinean is on the Gunners’ radar as a potential alternative to Thomas Partey.

As things stand, the London club cannot afford the Atletico Madrid star’s €50m (£45m) release clause and they have been looking at cheaper options.

Diawara could well be available this summer for half the price, at around €25m (£23m), which would make him a potential target.

The 23-year-old has only been with the Giallorossi for a year after moving from Napoli for €20m last summer but, despite impressing when given a chance by manager Paulo Fonseca, injuries have curtailed his season.

It is believed Roma are open to selling either Diawara or Jordan Veretout as they look to raise funds for transfers so the Gunners do have an excellent chance of snapping up the Guinean international if they table a formal bid.
