Arsenal Given Transfer Boost With £15M Rated Copa America Star ‘Likely’ To Be Sold If ‘Valuation Is Met’

Watford are “likely” to sell Arsenal transfer target Yaser Asprilla this summer if his “valuation is met”, according to The Athletic.

Both the Gunners and Everton have been linked with the 20-year-old in recent days and the website claims that the Hornets are open to offers:

“Watford are expecting interest in Yaser Asprilla as the Copa America draws to a close. The Colombia international – who is part of the squad who will play Uruguay in the semi-finals – is known to have admirers around the world.”

“There is a growing acceptance at the Championship club that the attacking midfielder – Watford’s most saleable asset – is likely to be allowed to leave if the club’s valuation is met.”

What do Arsenal fans need to know about Asprilla?

The winger scored 6 goals and provided 8 assists in 47 appearances for Watford last season. He was also called up by Colombia for the Copa America but he has only made one appearance in the competition so far, coming on for the last 20 minutes of the group game against Costa Rica.

Asprilla is left-footed, but he prefers to play off the right wing so he can cut in onto his stronger side and shoot.  The Gunners are obviously looking at him as a potential backup for Bukayo Saka.

The club are targeting another winger

The Athletic claim that Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams is also being monitored by Arsenal. It is believed that the Spanish international is manager Mikel Arteta’s preferred target to strengthen the left flank.

However, with a €58m (£49m) release clause, it remains to be seen whether there are resources available to pursue his signature. The likes of Emile Smith Rowe or Eddie Nketiah may need to depart the Emirates first in order for a move to go ahead.
