Arsenal Set £70m Price Tag For Player Who Real Madrid Want Amid Contract Talks

Arsenal have reportedly set a price tag of around £7om on William Saliba with Real Madrid keen on him.

The Gunners had one of their best summer transfer windows ever this year, as they managed to add Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke and more.

Mikel Arteta’s side are looking ahead to a league clash against Newcastle United at the weekend, a week after they drew 1-1 to Man City at the Emirates on Sunday. They will be hoping to keep the Magpies quiet, and William Saliba will have a big role to play in that.

Saliba was out injured for some of September, but he’s back now, and will be a crucial part of Arsenal’s team moving forward. The French defender has attracted transfer attention from Real Madrid, as the La Liga side are reportedly wanting to sign him.

According to French outlet AS, Arsenal have set a price of £70m on Saliba, so if Real Madrid want to sign him, they will have to spend big in the January transfer window or the summer.

Arsenal want Saliba to sign a new contract

Amid the interest from Real Madrid, Arsenal would like to keep hold of Saliba because of what an important player the French centre-back can be.

Reports have said that the Gunners have offered Saliba a new deal, with his current contract due to expire in June 2027, meaning that if he doesn’t sign a new contract by summer 2026, they could be forced to sell him to get some form of financial return.

Real Madrid are likely banking on Saliba not signing a new deal at Arsenal so that they can get him as a free agent in 2027, much like they did with Trent Alexander-Arnold’s situation at Liverpool at the end of last season.
