Arsenal are reportedly willing to offer £69 million to Sporting CP in order to sign striker Viktor Gyokeres this summer.
The Gunners have been linked to Gyokeres for over a year now as they are in need of a number nine who can scored 20-plus goals in a Premier League season.
Mikel Arteta has already said that his side are preparing for a big summer transfer window, and the expectation is that they will sign a strike, the question is which one?
Gyokeres has been a top target for Arsenal in recent months, and reports in Spain are now suggesting that the Gunners are preparing a £69m bid in order to try and sign the Swedish international.
According to Fichajes, the Gunners want to offer £69m despite the fact that Gyokeres has an £86m release clause, as they want to secure an early transfer for him, amid interest from rivals Manchester United.
Arsenal can offer the promise of Champions League football and Premier League title contention to Gyokeres, whereas United will hope to lure him to Old Trafford due to his connection to manager Ruben Amorim.
The 26-year-old has scored 38 goals in 30 league games this season for Sporting CP, showing himself to be one of the most prolific strikers in world football.
Gyokeres “could play for any club”
The Sweden international plays alongside another Arsenal transfer target for the national team in the form of Newcastle’s Alexander Isak. The Sweden manager Jon Dahl Tomasson believes that, like Isak, Gyokeres could thrive in the Premier League.
He told the Sun: “Gyokeres would be fantastic in the Premier League. He could play for any club in the world and he would score a lot of goals anywhere. Him and Isak are two quite different players, but they’re both world-class strikers.”
Arsenal are expected to make a move for the 26-year-old this summer in the hope that he could be the missing piece in their pursuit of a Premier League title.
