Arsenal Told “Brilliant Bit Of Business” Will Make Them The Ones To “Push Liverpool” This Season

Arsenal have been told that by signing Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP, they will be the ones to push Liverpool in next year’s title race.

The Gunners have been very active in the transfer window so far, they have added Martin Zubimendi in midfield, alongside Christian Norgaard from Brentford too.

Chelsea’s Noni Madueke has also come into the squad to help play backup to Bukayo Saka, and also the Gunners are looking to sign someone on the left-wing too.

Consider the fact that they have all but agreed a deal to bring in Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres, Mikel Arteta could have a fierce attack next season, with the likes of Liverpool and Man City challenging with the Gunners for the Premier League title.

It is understood that Arsenal are going to pay around £64m for Gyokeres, which is a lot for a relatively unproven striker in the top leagues. But there is no denying his numbers; Gyokeres scored 54 goals in 52 games in all competitions last season for Sporting.

McAteer says Gyokeres deal with help Arsenal challenge Liverpool

Former Liverpool defender Jason McAteer has said that from a Reds’ perspective, he is concerned about Arsenal’s threat considering they have all but agreed to sign Gyokeres.

He told William Hill Vegas: “Arsenal are Liverpool’s biggest Premier League rivals right now. Last season, Mikel Arteta chose not to sign a striker and that probably cost them the title. They then lost key players in that position and ended up having to put Mikel Merino up front! He scored a few goals but he was never going to deliver the goods until the end of season and that cost them in the end.

“This season looks different for the Gunners. Getting Viktor Gyökeres is a brilliant bit of business. He was phenomenal in the Championship, and his numbers have been different class for Sporting Lisbon.

“Whether he will be a regular goalscorer in the Premier League remains to be seen. His price tag will also bring a bit of pressure, but he will get plenty of opportunities in that team. With him through the door and with the likes of Martin Zubimendi, they will be the ones to really push Liverpool.”
