Arsenal have a “strong interest” in signing Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres, according to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein.
Co-writing with the website’s Arsenal correspondent James McNicholas, Ornstein said that the appointment of Andrea Berta as sporting director increases the chances of the Gunners pursuing the forward with the Italian thought to be a big fan.
There was a mixed reaction to the report from fans on X, with some believing Gyokeres would be a great addition to the squad while others prefer other targets:

Gyokeres is much cheaper than Isak
It is believed that the 26-year-old has a gentleman’s agreement with Sporting, which means that he can leave the Portuguese champions for €70m (£58.5m) at the end of the season. That fee has also attracted attention from other Premier League teams, including Manchester United.
Considering Gyokeres has scored 42 goals in 42 games this campaign, that seems like a great price, especially when you take into account that Newcastle’s Alexander Isak will cost more than double that. However, some are concerned that the striker isn’t Premier League proven unlike his Swedish compatriot.
Arsenal hold an interest in 3 strikers
Ornstein and McNicholas don’t only confirm that Gyokeres and Isak are on the club’s radar. They report that a move for RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko is still under consideration.
The Slovenian has a release clause in his contract which means he could be signed for around €80m (£67m). It is up for debate, though, whether he would be a better signing than Gyokeres, who is available for less.
