Arsenal Set To ‘Discuss’ Personal Terms With £70M Rated Striker’s Agent As They Get ‘Clear Run’ To Sign Top Target

Arsenal are planning to “discuss” a salary package with the representative of Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres ahead of a proposed move this summer, according to reports.

The Swedish international has emerged as a top transfer target and GiveMeSport claim that the Gunners are pushing ahead with their attempts to secure his signature.

Gyokeres is set to be made available for below his €100m (£85m) release clause, making him a more realistic option than Newcastle’s Alexander Isak.

Sporting are expected to sanction the forward’s sale for around £70m, which is a figure that Mikel Arteta’s side are willing to pay.

Arsenal are heavy favourites to purchase the player

GiveMeSport report that rival teams, including Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea, are currently focused on recruiting other players. Newcastle may have been another potential destination for Gyokeres but the forward is said to have doubts about a move to St James’ Park.

It means that the Gunners are likely to have a “clear path” if they want to snap up the player over the coming weeks.

Gyokeres is now on course for the European Golden Boot

The 26-year-old has been in outstanding form this season. He took his goal tally to an astonishing 52 in 48 matches on Sunday night when he scored 4 times in Sporting’s 5-0 win over Boavista.

Gyokeres has surpassed Liverpool’s Mo Salah in the race for the Golden Boot. For that reason alone, Arsenal will be encouraged that they are going after the right No.9.

In addition to Isak, the London club do hold an interest in RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, but all the indications suggest that new sporting director Andrea Berta is now pushing ahead with a deal to sign Gyokeres.
