Bacary Sagna Says Arsenal Should Make Transfer Statement And Sign “Brilliant” £63M-Rated Striker

Former Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna has said that the Gunners should sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

The Nigerian international is currently on loan at Turkish side Galatasaray after he failed to secure a permanent transfer away from Napoli in the summer transfer window.

So far this season, Osimhen has scored six goals in seven league games for Galatasaray and the Gunners were linked to signing him during the summer transfer window.

Former Gunner Sagna believes that the Gunners should sign him as he is different to what Mikel Arteta’s side currently have. He told Mega Dice: “He is a player that Arsenal could definitely do with. I think that he would be a brilliant option for Arsenal because he is a different profile to the type of strikers that they have in the Arsenal team.

“That is the only thing that Arsenal are missing. I think they need more options up front so they can add more variety to the way that they play. It is a little bit like when Arsenal had Olivier Giroud, I think Arsenal are missing a player like him who can hold the ball up and provide a focal point.”

However, despite reports linking Osimhen over a January transfer from Napoli to the Premier League, Sagna believes that the Gunners may have to wait until the summer transfer window to land the Nigerian.

He said: “I don’t think Victor Osimhen is going to be available to join Arsenal in January, but in the summer, there should be an opportunity for him to come to the Premier League.”

Arsenal Premier League rivals also linked to Osimhen

The striker’s excellent performances over the past three seasons have generated a lot of Premier League interest especially from Arsenal and London rivals Chelsea.

The Blues have been linked to Osimhen as well and they remain heavily interested in trying to secure the attacker during the January transfer window.

Reports suggest that a clause in his loan deal at Galatasaray means that he could be available to sign in January and so either Arsenal or Chelsea could yet make a move.
