Arsenal Urged To Sign Premier League Thomas Partey Replacement Who Is “Two Steps Ahead”

Former Premier League midfielder Owen Hargreaves has urged Arsenal to sign Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton to replace Thomas Partey.

The Ghana international is set to leave the Emirates as a free agent in the summer transfer window, as his contract at Arsenal runs out in June. There have been reports saying that the Gunners aren’t expected to extend his deal.

If Partey does leave this summer, Arsenal will need to find a replacement, and they have been linked to one…Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi.

The Spaniard has a £52m release clause, which the Gunners are reportedly close to agreeing on for a transfer in the summer. However, former PL midfielder Hargreaves believes that they should instead sign Crystal Palace and England midfielder Adam Wharton.

He said on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel: “He gets in your team [Arsenal]. If Mikel Arteta saw him he’d go, “that’s my guy”. Say if Thomas Partey leaves, Wharton is a player.

“The thing with Adam that’s crazy is his vision. He’s two steps ahead. His reading of the game when you watch him… his vision and his touch is almost as good as anyone.”

Has Wharton been linked to Arsenal?

The Palace midfielder hasn’t been linked with a move to the Emirates, but instead with transfers to Manchester United and Manchester City, although those links went quiet in the January transfer window.

The 21-year-old doesn’t have a release clause in his contract, however, according to the Metro, Palace are likely to ask for over £70 million for the midfielder, as they don’t want to sell him.

This season, Wharton has made 20 appearances for Palace as he’s been plagued by injury, but when at his best, he’s been a difference maker for the Eagles.
