“I Would Be Happy…” – Arsenal Target Makes Frank Admission About Possible Emirates Switch

Hacken midfielder Silas Andersen says he “would be happy” if he ends up joining Arsenal in the New Year.

The Gunners have been scouting the 21-year-old, and asked about the recent speculation by Fotboll Skanalen, Andersen said:

“It’s a big club. I would be happy… There is a lot of interest [from other teams too]. Now people have to make a move, but we’ll see…”

“I have no idea [about a January move]. It’s something I need to talk to Martin [Ericsson, football director] and Erik [Friberg, sports director] about it…”

“I’m aiming for the highest possible [team]. That’s my goal. Yes. I feel like I’ve shown myself and what I can do. I think I’m ready, but we’ll see.”

Why are Arsenal interested in Andersen?

The Denmark Under 20 international is a holding midfielder, and it is likely that the Gunners see him as a potential long-term replacement for his compatriot Christian Norgaard.

While the former Brentford captain only made the switch to the Emirates in the summer, he has already made it clear that, even if he sees out his three-year deal, he is keen on returning to his former club Brondby.

While no immediate offer from Arsenal is expected for Andersen, the club seem to be keeping a close eye on his development.

What are the club’s plans for the January transfer window?

Unless there is some sort of injury crisis, the Gunners are not expected to make any signings midway through the campaign.

The fact that Piero Hincapie had to be signed on a loan deal, rather than on a permanent basis, at the end of the summer suggests that Arsenal are very much up against it in terms of the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules.
