Sky Journalist Says Arsenal (NOT Chelsea) Are “In The Race” To Sign 30 Goal Striker With £15M Release Clause

Arsenal are “in the race” to snap up Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy, according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg.

The journalist has confirmed that the forward has decided to move clubs, and the Gunners, Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan will be the three main contenders for his signature, with Chelsea having now dropped out:

Guirassy can be signed for just €17.5m (£15m) this summer due to a release clause in his contract, and that is a very tempting price, considering his form last season.

The 28-year-old scored 28 goals in the Bundesliga (finishing behind only Harry Kane in the scoring charts), hitting the back of the net 30 times in total.

Why have Arsenal decided to pursue Guirassy?

After missing out on RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, the London club have been looking for alternatives to strengthen their frontline.

The likes of Napoli’s Victor Osinhen, Newcastle’s Alexander Isak and Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres have been mentioned but all are thought to be beyond their price range, with fees in excess of €100m being required.

Guirassy, in contrast, is available for significantly below his market value, and he could provide decent competition for Kai Havertz.

What does this mean for Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah?

If Guirassy is brought in, it is more than likely that at least one striker will be sold before the end of the summer transfer window.

While reports have suggested that Arsenal are open to selling Jesus, it is not believed they will force him to leave. Nketiah, on the other hand, could well be offloaded if the Gunners receive a satisfactory fee.
