Arsenal’s dream target on the left wing has been revealed after they lost out to rivals Chelsea for RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons.
The Gunners have finally addressed the striker position, as they have managed to secure Viktor Gyokeres for a fee of £64m. Gyokeres will adorn the number 14 shirt, the same number that legendary striker Thierry Henry wore for Arsenal.
Furthermore, adding extra depth on the right wing was also a priority that Mikel Arteta addressed by signing Noni Madueke from Chelsea. The Blues view RB Leipzig winger Xavi Simons as their replacement for Madueke, Arsenal have also been credited with interest in Simons.
However, it seems as though Chelsea are going to win the race for the Dutchman, and so the Gunners will need to look at alternative targets. It has now been revealed which left-winger they would choose as their ‘dream’ option.
Arsenal want Rodrygo
The Gunners are one of several teams that have shown an interest in Real Madrid winger Rodrygo, who could be available for a summer move. The Brazilian is expected to cost upwards of £80m however, and so Arsenal may have to sell first to land him.
Liverpool and Chelsea have also been linked with Rodrygo, but seeing as the Reds are prioritising a move for Alexander Isak, and Chelsea for Xavi Simons, it leaves the Gunners free to go after Rodrygo.
According to Football 365, the ‘dream’ signing is Rodrygo, but it will only be feasible if Arsenal sell Gabriel Martinelli first.
Martinelli was linked with a move to Bayern Munich, but it seems as though that interest has cooled, so it is not clear where the Brazilian winger would go. Arsenal could consider offering Martinelli in part-exchange for Rodrygo, however, there has been no indicated interest from Madrid in the Arsenal star.
