Tottenham Hotspur Aim To Hijack £78m Arsenal Transfer For Eberechi Eze Alternative

Tottenham are reportedly plotting a move for Arsenal target and Real Madrid winger Rodrygo this summer.

Arsenal are looking to add a second winger after they secured the signing of Noni Madueke from Chelsea earlier in the window. They signed Madueke with a view to him being a backup to Bukayo Saka if the England star gets injured again next year.

However, it is understood that Arsenal also want to strengthen on the left wing, with the future of Gabriel Martinelli uncertain. Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze is understood to be the most likely target for the Gunners, and it is understood that the English star wants a move to the Emirates this summer.

Real Madrid winger Rodrygo is also a target for Arsenal, but he is expected to be more expensive. Eze has a £68m release clause, and Rodrygo has a price tag of £78m according to Real Madrid’s valuation of the 24-year-old.

It now seems that Arsenal have competition to sign Rodrygo, as FourFourTwo are reporting that rivals Spurs are lining up a shock move for the Brazilian winger after they missed out on Nottingham Forest winger Morgan Gibbs-White.

The report says that the Tottenham hierarchy are willing to pay Madrid’s £78m asking price, so if Arsenal want Rodrygo, they will have to act quickly this summer.

Arsenal could swap Saliba for Rodrygo

Recent reports have said that Real Madrid are looking to sign Arsenal centre-back William Saliba this summer, with a bid of around £110m reported, including two Madrid players.

If the bid does come through, the Gunners could respond and say that they want Rodrygo in exchange for the French defender so that they get to land one of their main targets.

The Brazilian winger made 54 appearances for Real Madrid last year, scoring 14 goals, and providing 11 assists. There is no doubt that if Arsenal signed him, they would be getting one of the best wingers in world football.
