Arsenal and Tottenham are both reportedly interested in signing the same player in the January transfer window.
The Gunners are in a fantastic spot at the moment, top of the league after 11 Premier League games, ahead of rivals Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.
Mikel Arteta will be delighted that his side will start the Christmas period of the season in such a good position, and will certainly be looking ahead to the January transfer window too. It is understood that Arsenal aren’t likely to make many transfer moves as Arteta’s squad is already fantastic.
However, if Arsenal can add long-term targets they won’t pass up that opportunity if it arises. Young players are always a concern for the Gunners’ scouts, and they will reportedly go after a Brazilian wonderkid who they have been scouting for some time, if the chance to sign him in January is there.
Arsenal and Tottenham pushing to sign Rayan
Brazilian winger Rayan has been subject to a lot of interest from Premier League clubs, and Arsenal are one of the names involved. The Gunners have scouted the 19-year-old, who plays for Vasco de Gama, and are hopeful to be the ones to bring him to England.
According to One Football, Vasco de Gama are desperate to keep hold of Rayan, and will offer him a new contract to try and fend off interest from Arsenal and North London rivals Tottenham. It is not understood whether he would prefer to stay in Brazil or come to the Premier League, but if Arsenal were to open talks with him, he could reject the offer from Vasco de Gama.
Rayan has a release clause of £34m, and it is understood that if he were to sign a new contract, it would have a release clause set at a higher price of around £53m. The 19-year-old has already made 89 professional appearances, scoring 19 goals for the Brazilian club.
