“One For The Summer” – Romano Names £60M Rated Winger Who Arsenal Want To Sign

Arsenal could well make a move for Wolves winger Pedro Neto at the end of the season, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

There have been reports that the Portuguese international could be brought in to strengthen the Gunners’ forward line this month but, while he knows the London club are big fans of the player, Romano says a transfer this summer is more likely:

“Arsenal are being linked again with Pedro Neto, and it’s hardly surprising after his fine form for Wolves, while it’s also clear the Gunners are not quite clicking in attack at the moment.”

“Still, I think this is a difficult one for January, so it could be one for the summer. Neto was already on Arsenal’s radar years ago, he’s always been appreciated.”

Arsenal need reinforcements up front

The likes of Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus have all struggled to rediscover the form they showed last season. Between them, they have scored just 11 goals in Arsenal‘s 20 league games so far.

For that reason, fans are hoping that the Gunners are looking at potential signings during the January transfer window to give the team an additional threat up top for the second half of the campaign.

FFP would stop Arsenal from pursuing Neto in January

It has been claimed that Wolves would demand as much as £60m for Neto and, considering the Gunners’ financial situation, it is not a deal that can realistically be done this month.

Financial Fair Play restrictions mean Mikel Arteta’s side would have to focus on selling players first before they make any new additions. There is also an argument to say that the club should be prioritising a move for a No.9 rather than another winger.

The likes of Brentford’s Ivan Toney, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez and Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface have all been mentioned as potential options but a lot depends on the funds that are available.
