Darren Bent “Hoping” That Arsenal Sign “Fantastic” Player Who Could Cost £60M

TalkSPORT pundit Darren Bent says he is “hoping” that Arsenal do make a formal approach for Wolves winger Pedro Neto.

It has been reported that Mikel Arteta’s side are considering reigniting their interest in the Portuguese international and Bent, who is a self-professed supporter of the Gunners, says his team would be getting a “fantastic” player if they do sign him:

“He is too good (for Wolves). I am hoping Arsenal get him, that’s what I am hoping because he is fantastic.”

Neto has been in good form for Wolves this season, having scored 1 goal and contributed 4 assists in 7 appearances (ahead of the Aston Villa game).

He was one of the key reasons why his team managed to defeat Manchester City last weekend, as he terrorised the Premier League champions with his pace and direct running.

Arsenal may be considering Neto as an alternative to Bukayo Saka

Although Saka has managed to recover pretty quickly from his latest injury, it does look as if his body is beginning to buckle under the strain of playing too many games.

There have reportedly been talks with England manager Gareth Southgate about reducing his game time in the next international break. However, he still needs some of the pressure taken off him at club level, and Neto could provide cover and effective competition.

Wolves won’t let Neto leave on the cheap

In the summer, it was claimed that the 23-year-old’s asking price was £50m, and following his strong start to the season, there are suggestions that his valuation has now gone up to £60m.

That is a lot to pay for someone who may not be in the starting lineup every week, so we shall see how this transfer story develops.
