“Not Just Arsenal and Liverpool” – Romano Makes New Transfer Claim About Portuguese Ace

Arsenal and Liverpool will be joined by “many” other teams in the race to sign Wolves winger Pedro Neto this summer, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

There has been speculation that Wolves are looking to offload the Portuguese international for £60m to £70m but, writing in his Daily Briefing column, Romano said that the club have yet to place an asking price on the player:

“Pedro Neto will be on the list of many clubs this June, not just Arsenal and Liverpool. The fee for him is not clear so far as Wolves are refusing to indicate a price.”

“That will be discussed closer to the summer transfer window. Also, no one is leading the race as things stand, and that will become concrete and clearer around May/June.”

Arsenal will face fierce competition for Neto

In addition to Liverpool, it is believed that the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham could also enter the battle for the 23-year-old’s services.

Neto’s form this season has clearly attracted a lot of attention, In 18 appearances for Wolves, he has scored 3 goals and contributed 10 assists.

Is Neto a priority target for Mikel Arteta?

As a left-footed winger, the Portuguese could provide Bukayo Saka with strong competition for a place in the starting lineup.

However, most believe that Arsenal should focus their efforts on recruiting a new No.9. While the London club have begun to score more freely in recent weeks, the lack of a striker who can regularly score 20+ goals a season could eventually cost them.

If Neto is priced at £70m as some reports claim, that money could be better spent on recruiting someone like Napoli’s Victor Osimhan or Brentford’s Ivan Toney.

Of course, it doesn’t have to be an ‘either/or’ situation, especially if the Gunners raise funds from player sales, but it is hard to see Neto being the No.1 target.
