Arsenal, Chelsea And Spurs Have All ‘Approached’ Club About Signing £25M Rated Fullback

Arsenal are one of three Premier League clubs who have made enquiries for Lecce fullback Patrick Dorgu, according to CalcioLecce.it.

The Italian website claims that the Gunners, Chelsea and Tottenham have all “approached” Lecce to register their interest in the Denmark Under 21 international.

Dorgu only has one season of first-team experience under his belt, having made 34 appearances in all competitions last campaign.

However, the 19-year-old was even linked with a switch to England last summer when both Liverpool and Manchester City were reported to have scouted the youngster.

Dorgu’s agent has already spoken out about Premier League interest

Speaking back in November last year, the player’s representative Kingsley Ogbodo not only confirmed that Liverpool and City were pursuing the teenager, but other teams were involved too:

“He is in the midst of his growth and learning process, so today it is too early to say. What I know is that he has a lot to offer and give.”

“Not only the clubs you mentioned [Liverpool and Manchester City], but also others. I don’t want to name names and I don’t want to create noise around him, there’s no need.”

“There is a lot of interest in Patrick and that doesn’t surprise me. Everyone can see his talent. When he has even more confidence in his abilities and has completed his growth, then we will see the results he can achieve.”

Arsenal will have to pay a sizeable fee

Despite playing relatively few matches at senior level, CalcioLecce.it claim that Dorgu’s club have already slapped a €30m (£25m) asking price on the player.

Considering that the Gunners are expected to pay €45m (£38m) for Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori, who is likely to play in the same position as Dorgu (at left-back), it seems unlikely that Mikel Arteta’s side will follow up their interest in the Dane.
