According to reports, Arsenal have made contact with Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt over attacker Omar Marmoush.
The 25-year-old has attracted a heavy amount of Premier League interest so far this season, including Chelsea and Liverpool who have both been monitoring his situation.
According to Caught Offside, Arsenal have made contact in regards to a January transfer for Marmoush whose contract talks have broken down with Frankfurt.
The attacker can play on either wing or up front and could be signed as a replacement to Bukayo Saka who suffered a hamstring injury which is expected to keep him out for over two months.
Marmoush has impressed for Frankfurt this season, scoring 18 goals in 24 games so far this season. He also has 13 assists for the German side.
Arsenal could push to sign him as a striker option considering that the Gunners are in need of a goalscorer. They have been linked to several strikers this season including Viktor Gyokeres, Alexander Isak and Dusan Vlahovic.
Arsenal face Premier League competition to sign Marmoush
The Gunners aren’t the only English side that are keeping tabs on Marmoush. Chelsea and Liverpool are both keen to land the 25-year-old.
Furthermore, the report also suggests that Newcastle United and Aston Villa could make a move for the Egyptian attacker.
It could spark a bidding war during the January transfer window which could drive his price higher and higher. Marmoush’s value is estimated to be around the £50m mark.
Marmoush could replace the injured Bukayo Saka
Saka suffered an injury during Arsenal’s 5-1 win against Crystal Palace in what was their last game before Christmas.
The injury comes as a massive blow for Mikel Arteta who has said that Saka could be out for over two months. The Arsenal boss said: “He had a procedure. Everything went well. But unfortunately, he will be out for many, many weeks. I think it will be more than two months. I don’t know exactly how much longer.”
Marmoush could provide an option to replace Saka as either a striker or a winger. He can provide both goals and assists, something that will be needed whilst Saka is on the side-lines.
