Arsenal Told ‘Controversial’ £52m Signing Would “Significantly Improve” Arteta’s Squad

Arsenal are close to signing Chelsea winger Noni Madueke, despite the fact that many fans don’t want the club to sign him.

The Gunners are looking to add depth at the winger position after star attacker Bukayo Saka suffered a hamstring injury last year, which kept him out of action for over three months, significantly damaging Arsenal’s chances of winning the league title.

Furthermore, Raheem Sterling has returned to Chelsea following his loan deal, leaving Mikel Arteta with limited options behind Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

Because of that, Arsenal have been in talks to sign Chelsea winger Noni Madueke, who had a decent season for the Blues last year. The 23-year-old scored 11 goals, and provided five assists, and is expected to command a transfer fee of around £52m. It has been reported that he is willing to join Arsenal, and has agreed on personal terms for a five-year contract at the Emirates.

Arsenal told that Madueke would be a “great signing”

Following the reports, many Arsenal fans have taken to social media to show their disgust at the potential signing. Earlier in the week, #NoToMadueke was trending on X, with Gunners fans against the addition of the England international.

However, former Premier League midfielder Jamie O’Hara has said that Arsenal fans should be excited at the prospect, as he believes that Madueke will be good for the Gunners.

O’Hara told Grosvenor Sport: “Noni Madueke would be a great signing for Arsenal, I don’t know why Arsenal fans aren’t enthusiastic towards the prospect of signing him.

“Arsenal are going to be playing in four major competitions and it was obvious they were short of reinforcements when Bukayo Saka was injured last season. Madueke had a brilliant start to the season for Chelsea and is adaptable; he played some minutes at left-back. He can run with the ball and has a bit of arrogance about him, which I like.

“Madueke would significantly improve the squad; he’s better than Leandro Trossard and if Saka gets injured, he’s a great replacement.

“Gabriel Martinelli has been inconsistent and Madueke would provide competition for a place on the left side – he could even surpass Martinelli if he was given a run of opportunities. I think he’d be a great signing – if I was Chelsea, I wouldn’t be letting him leave!”
