“I Don’t Get Too Distracted”: Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Makes Transfer Admission Amid £80M Striker Links

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has said that he doesn’t get distracted by the transfer news surrounding the club, despite the need for a striker in January.

The Gunners only have Kai Havertz as a striker option as things stand due to the ACL injury that Gabriel Jesus suffered earlier in January.

It has sparked reports linking Arsenal to several world-class strikers including Benjamin Sesko, Victor Osimhen and Matheus Cunha in recent weeks.

However, the Arsenal boss doesn’t let the transfer noise distract him, and instead would rather focus on an upcoming Champions League match against Dinamo Zagreb.

He told the media in his pre-match press conference: “No, I understand it happens. In the summer I had a lot of people texting me saying: ‘you’re after him?’ and sometimes I don’t even know what they’re talking about.

“I don’t follow that too much, I have enough work to do and we’ve got a lot of things on so I don’t get too distracted by it.” He was then asked if he was enjoying the transfer window, to which he simply replied: “I love it!”

Arteta‘s Arsenal side have a major lack of depth at the striker position, sparking calls from fans and pundits for them to make a splash in the January window and add a striker. However, their latest linked name, has now been priced at a hefty £80m.

Arsenal learn Cunha price

Matheus Cunha has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates in recent days, as he is yet to sign a new contract at Wolves.

However, in a recent report, it was said that Wolves have placed an £80m price tag on Cunha if Arsenal would like to sign him in the January transfer window, something that the Gunners will be very reluctant to pay.

Despite the Brazilian’s excellent form, scoring 10 goals in 21 Premier League matches, Arsenal may need to look at other transfer targets in order to improve at the striker position.
