Arsenal are in pole position to sign Barcelona defender Mika Faye if he pushes for a move away from the Camp Nou, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Senegalese international only made the switch to the Catalan club last summer but he has not managed to make his first team breakthrough.
Faye was an unused substitute on three occasions but he has only played for Barca’s B team, leading to the player becoming frustrated about his situation.
Mundo Deportivo report that the 19-year-old is “finding it hard to understand why” he hasn’t made his first-team debut yet and he is seriously “thinking about leaving” just a year after arriving in Spain.
Arsenal are favourites to sign the centre-back
Several teams are keeping close tabs on Faye’s situation, with it being claimed that the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, Inter Milan and Bayern Munich are considering tabling offers for the player.
However, Mundo Deportivo say that the Gunners have shown “strong interest” more recently and could well consider making a bid for the teenager in the coming weeks.
What do fans need to know about Faye?
The centre-half came through the academy of Senegalese club Diambars FC before he moved to Croatian side NK Kustosija in February 2023.
Faye began to turn heads of scouts almost immediately, and, despite playing just 14 senior games, a whole host of top European teams battled for his signature at the end of last season.
Barcelona won the race, securing his services for €1.5m, but he has spent almost the entire campaign in the Spanish third tier with their B team, making 33 appearances and scoring 4 goals.
Despite his lack of game time for Barca’s senior side, he was called up by Senegal for the first time in March, and he got on the scoresheet on his debut versus Gabon.
