Reliable Journalist Claims £50M Rated Chelsea And Spurs Target Is “Waiting” For Approach From Arsenal

Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel is “waiting to see” whether Arsenal or Manchester United will make an approach before deciding on his future, according to the Daily Mail reporter Sami Mokbel.

The journalist, who is very reliable when it comes to the Gunners, says that Chelsea and Tottenham are the two clubs who have shown the most concrete interest in the player so far.

However, there is a chance that Mikel Arteta‘s side could make an offer for Tel before the transfer window closes on Monday night.

The club are expected to recruit a forward over the next few days but, at this moment in time, the 19-year-old does not appear to be their top target.

Who do Arsenal want to sign instead?

The Gunners remain interested in snapping up Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins despite having an opening bid rejected for the England international.

It is believed that the striker is keen on making the switch to the Emirates, but his current team are very reluctant to sell him. They have already approved the sale of Jhon Duran to Al-Nassr and manager Unai Emery is determined to keep Watkins.

Tel seems to be the backup option

It does appear as if an approach for the Bayern star will only happen if it becomes clear that there is no chance of securing the signature of Watkins.

The Frenchman’s asking price is said to be around €60m (£50m) which is well within Arsenal’s price range, considering they have already had a £60m proposal turned down for Watkins.

However, Tel may get tired of waiting for the Gunners to make their move and, with interest from several other Premier League teams, there is a danger that they could end up missing out if they leave it to the last minute.
