OPINION – Arsenal Could Sign £46M Premier League Attacker Amid Wage-Cut Reports

Arsenal could make a late January move for Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford, who is set to leave Old Trafford this month.

The Gunners are struggling with a lack of attacking options currently as both Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus are out injured for an extended period, meaning that Mikel Arteta will want replacements.

Arteta’s side are second in the Premier League table, six points behind Liverpool. They will want to bolster their squad to keep the title race alive.

Saka is set to be out until late March at the earliest with a hamstring injury, whereas Jesus could miss the remainder of the season. They currently have just one striker available in the form of Kai Havertz.

Arsenal could make late Rashford move in cheap January deal

Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford is aiming to leave Old Trafford this month after he was dropped by manager Ruben Amorim, and declared that he wants a ‘new challenge’.

He has been linked with moves to both AC Milan and Barcelona previously, however, a move away is looking less and less likely to happen ahead of transfer deadline day on Monday.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Rashford is that bit closer to moving to his preferred destination of Barcelona. The report says that the United attacker is prepared to take a wage cut in order to secure a loan move away, something that Arsenal could capitalise on.

The Gunners were linked with Rashford at the start of the January window, and seeing as they have a glaring need for more attackers, they could loan the 27-year-old in for the rest of the season, at a cheaper wage price than he would have cost.

The later that it gets in the transfer window, the more desperate Rashford will be to force a move away, especially after Amorim’s made comments hinting that he has not been training well at United in recent weeks.

Rashford could provide Arteta with a proven Premier League goal scorer

It would be a slightly strange move, however, if Arsenal were to make a late swoop for Rashford, they could land themselves a proven goal-scorer who could come in and re-ignite his career at the Emirates.

This season, the striker has scored four goals and one assist in the Premier League, but just two seasons ago, Rashford had a 30-goal season for United.

There is no reason why he wouldn’t be able to come in for Arsenal and chip in with a few goals in their pursuit of Liverpool. Plus, they could loan him in with a cheaper wage, meaning that they won’t have to break the bank.
