In our poll asking who Arsenal should sign up front, in a very surprising result, Gunners fans picked Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak as their preferred choice.
This comes as a surprise to many given the links to Ivan Toney and Ollie Watkins and given the fact that Newcastle is the wealthiest club in the Premier League and is under no pressure to sell Isak. Newcastle has made it clear that they are keen on keeping the Swedish international by setting a price tag of around £100 million for interested parties according to the Sun.
The Newcastle United man received 32.6% of the vote after a season where he scored 21 goals in 30 Premier League appearances, he became a key part of the Magpies’ attack as the season progressed.
Victor Osimhen is also a popular choice by Arsenal fans
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen was also a popular option receiving 28.4% of the vote. He has generated a lot of transfer interest over the past few seasons.
An offer has come in for the striker from PSG with the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, and Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli showing interest, according to Football Italia.
Osimhen made 25 Serie A appearances last season scoring 15 goals – slightly behind Alexander Isak.
Arsenal reportedly keen on Benjamin Sesko and Ivan Toney
The Gunners were planning on making a bid for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko who received 18.3% of the vote. However, the Slovenian forward signed a new contract at the German club making it unlikely for him to be on the move this summer.
Meanwhile, Brentford striker Ivan Toney has generated a lot of Premier League interest from Spurs, Manchester United, and Arsenal. He received just 5.2% of the vote.
England star Ollie Watkins preferred to Arsenal target Ivan Toney
Suprisingly, Gunners fans are more keen on signing Aston Villa man Ollie Watkins over Man United target Ivan Toney. Watkins received 13.5% of the vote and was the fourth most popular choice.
Comparing the two, Watkins scored 19 goals in 37 games this past season whereas Toney scored four goals in 17 games amid his six-month ban for breaching gambling rules.
As a better marker, in the 2022/23 season, Toney scored 20 goals in 33 games, which is marginally better than Watkins this past season.
However, the two are locked very closely, but it seems more likely that Toney will be on the move this summer as Aston Villa has no intention of selling Ollie Watkins.
