Arsenal, Manchester United And Manchester City Transfer Target Sets Stance Amid £100m Release Clause

Arsenal, Manchester United, and Manchester City are both reportedly interested in Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.

According to GiveMeSport, the Gunners were eyeing up a move for Guimaraes who has a £100m release clause in his contract alongside United and City.

Both Arsenal and City have made contact with the Brazil international’s agent to find out if there is a chance of luring the 26-year-old away from St James’ Park.

Guimaraes has impressed since joining the Magpies from Lyon in 2022. He has made 107 appearances for Newcastle, scoring 17 goals and providing 16 assists. But there have been doubts over his future at St James’ Park during the transfer window.

The Brazilian plays as a defensive midfielder, a position that both Manchester United and Arsenal are keen on strengthening this summer.

Bruno Guimaraes’ message to Arsenal, City and United

The midfielder spoke to the media on Wednesday shutting down any rumours of a move to a Premier League rival. He committed his future to Newcastle.

Guimaraes said: “I have never said I would like to leave. I’ve always said I want to put my name in the club’s history and that hasn’t changed.

“I want to be in the Champions League again, I want to win something for the club. This is still my dream.”

There was much speculation over the 26-year-old’s future whilst manager Eddie Howe was linked with the England job. The midfielder clearly has a lot of admiration for the Magpies’ boss.

“I’m very happy.” He added, “The gaffer has given me a big responsibility to be in the leadership group. I want to be a leader. Grateful to him and his staff and it’s time for me to deliver something special for them.”

Mikel Arteta is still on the hunt for a central midfielder

The Gunners have been linked with several names in central midfield this summer as Mikel Arteta looks to close the gap to title winners Manchester City.

As it seems Bruno Guimaraes won’t be on the move, Arteta will turn his attention to his other midfield targets which include Real Soceiedad man Mikel Merino.

Furthermore, the Arsenal boss has also been linked to free agent and French international Adrien Rabiot who is also wanted by Manchester United and Liverpool.
