Reports have emerged that Arsenal and other Premier League clubs are monitoring Lyon winger Malick Fofana. 

The French club received a provisional relegation during the international break unless they can find £83m to pay of their debts before the end of the season.

This means that they may have to let go some of their more prized assets with Malick Fofana being one of the touted names.

Arsenal are keen to add an attacker to take some of the heat off Bukayo Saka and the 19-year-old could be an exciting option for Mikel Arteta.

According to CaughtOffside, the Gunners are monitoring Fofana and could make a move in the January transfer window with the knowledge that Lyon will need to sell players.

The report suggests that the French club could accept just £25m for the winger who has been in hot form this season due to their recent financial struggles.

Arsenal could bag themselves a bargain for £25m as Fofana’s sky high potential means he could be worth more than double that fee in two to three seasons time.

Arsenal face competition to sign Fofana

Liverpool and Aston Villa are also keen on landing Fofana as they look to strengthen in attacking areas to battle for the title and Champions League glory.

The interest from Liverpool is significant, as they may have identified the Lyon man as a future replacement for Mohammed Salah who has hinted that he could leave Anfield at the end of the season.

They could develop Malick Fofana into a real star as the Belgian attacker has a high potential and will be a big loss for Lyon.

A season to remember for the winger

Lyon currently sit sixth in Ligue 1, but could be so much higher after some electric performances from Fofana this season.

His form in the league has warranted three goals and an assist in 12 games which is a decent start for the 19-year-old.

However, he has impressed heavily in Europe as Fofana currently has three goals and an assist in five Europa League matches.
