Sky Reporter Reveals Leroy Sane’s Transfer Stance As He Says Arsenal Are “Monitoring” His Situation

Arsenal transfer target Leroy Sane “wants to stay” at Bayern Munich, according to Sky Sports Germany journalist Kerry Hau.

The former Manchester City winger has less than a year left on his contract at the Allianz Arena and, while Hau confirms that the Gunners are “monitoring the situation”, the player is still hopeful of signing a new contract at Bayern.

It is believed that manager Mikel Arteta has a strong relationship with Sane, having worked with him during his time as assistant manager to Pep Guardiola at City.

That would suggest that, if contract talks do break down between Sane and Bayern, Arsenal would be among the frontrunners to snap him up before the transfer window closes next month.

Arsenal are keen on signing a wide forward

The Gunners have also been heavily linked with Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams in recent weeks but there are thought to be a number of obstacles stopping such a transfer going ahead.

Barcelona are currently regarded as the favourites to sign the 21-year-old, having sought an agreement on personal terms. Arsenal, in contrast, may struggle to match his wage demands.

Williams is already earning over €200,000 a week, and he would probably want to become the club’s highest earner if he were to make the switch to the Emirates.

Sane’s salary could be an issue

Similarly to Williams, the Bayern Munich winger would be a top earner. He takes home nearly €385,000 a week at the moment, which is roughly £324,000 a week.

Even if he agreed to take a pay cut to make the switch to Arsenal, he would still be looking for a very high salary. Considering that he is now 28 (7 years older than Williams), you would have to question whether he would be worth the investment.
