“Who Would’t Want To Go?” – PL Star With 12 Goals And 11 Assists This Season Says He’s Keen On Joining Arsenal

Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey says he is interested in joining a “big six” team, like Arsenal or Chelsea, in the future.

The Jamaican international has had an excellent season for the Villans, racking up 12 goals and 11 assists in 40 appearances but, speaking about his future on the Let’s Be Honest podcast, he said:

“You have big teams in England, they call themselves the big six. The Arsenal’s and the Chelsea’s. It has always been my dream to play in the Premier League and I am right now. Who wouldn’t want to go to a massive team? Especially coming out of Jamaica, do you know how big that is for the country? Especially being who I am as well.”

“It would shine more light and that has been my focus whenever overseas. It is to use my platform to be able to shine light on the country and the young talents. It’s difficult for us Jamaicans to even dream about making it to Europe.”

Arsenal will be in the market for a player like Bailey this summer

The Gunners have been heavily linked with a number of left-footed wingers in recent months, with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta believed to be keen on taking some of the workload off Bukayo Saka on the right flank.

Wolves’ Pedro Neto and Barcelona’s Raphinha are just a couple of the names that have been mentioned. Bailey has seemingly thrown his hat into the ring as a possible target as well.

Will the club pursue a new No.9 instead?

There is believed to be some debate in Arsenal’s recruitment team about whether a winger or a striker should be a top priority for the next transfer window.

At the moment, it does appear that signing someone like Bailey is more likely, but you do wonder whether the club should devote more resources towards signing a proven 20+ goals a season No.9.
