Arsenal are “very close” to agreeing a deal to sign Racing Genk attacking midfielder Konstantinos Karetsas, according to the Athenian-Macedonian News Agency (AMNA).
The news outlet cites “well-informed managerial sources” who say that the Gunners are expected to seal the signature of the 17-year-old for €45m (£38m).
Karetsas is not expected to make the switch to the Emirates immediately either, with it being reported that he will remain on loan with Genk for a year.
Considering how much the Greek international will cost, it seems surprising that Mikel Arteta’s side are not looking to bring him in straight away, but AMNA claim the club feel his development would be best served by staying in Belgium.
