Arsenal are weighing up a bid for Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman ahead of Friday night’s deadline, according to Daily Mail reporter Sami Mokbel.
The journalist, who is usually reliable when it comes to the Gunners, claims that the London club are exploring a “last minute” move for the France international.
Bayern are reportedly open to loaning out Coman, as long as the deal includes an option to buy and that makes the move realistic considering Arsenal’s limited financial resources.
There are, though, a couple of issues that could stop the 28-year-old from making the switch to the Emirates.
Coman’s salary is very high
Mokbel claims that the Frenchman is currently taking home £300,000 a week at Bayern, which is more than Arsenal’s highest earner Kai Havertz, who is on £280,000 a week.
That means that Arsenal would have to persuade Coman into lowering his wage demands, which may prove difficult considering that he does already have another lucrative offer on the table.
Arsenal will be competing with a Saudi Arabian club
It is believed that Al-Hilal have handed Coman a big contract proposal that would be hard to turn down. There is a feeling, however, that the player would prefer to stay in Europe if possible and that means the Gunners do still have a chance of persuading him to join them instead.
In addition to the finances, manager Mikel Arteta may also have to guarantee Coman satisfactory game time. He can play on either wing so he could provide great cover for Bukayo Saka on the right flank, whilst also competing for starts with Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard on the left wing. It remains to be seen whether that will be enough for him to snub the riches on offer from Saudi.
