Arsenal could be tempted to revive their interest in Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman after his club put him up for sale, according to reports in the German media.
The Gunners did consider pursuing the Frenchman at the end of last summer’s transfer window before they snapped up Raheem Sterling on loan from Chelsea instead.
However, German tabloid Bild now claim that Mikel Arteta’s side will get another chance to land Coman at the end of this season.
Bayern are keen to raise funds for their own signings and they are reportedly willing to let the 28-year-old leave if they receive a fee in the region of €35m (£29m) to €40m (£33m).
How has Coman been performing this season?
The France international has had a pretty average campaign so far, having scored 6 goals and provided 4 assists in 32 appearances.
Coman’s record is actually worse than Gabriel Martinelli‘s, with the Brazilian having found the back of the net 7 times in all competitions, albeit having played 3 games more.
Arsenal are keen on strengthening in wide areas
One of the main priorities for the next transfer window is to add more depth in forward positions. In addition to a new No.9, there have been reports that the club are looking to replace the likes of Leandro Trossard and even Martinelli.
Coman does have a great deal of experience, having won the Champions League with Bayern in 2020, as well as being given 58 caps by France. However, it is fair to say that he is on the decline, very much like Sterling.
You would think that an alternative target like Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams would be a much better fit. He is 6 years younger than Coman and he would only cost slightly more to sign. The Spaniard has a €58m (£48m) release clause in his contract.
