Como head coach Cesc Fabregas is keen on signing Arsenal goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga in January, according to reports.
The Gunners only signed the Spaniard from Chelsea for £5m in the summer transfer window to provide cover for David Raya.
However, SportsBoom claim that Fabregas is “eyeing” a move for Kepa in the New Year as he wants the keeper to become his new number one.
Whether manager Mikel Arteta would sanction the 30-year-old’s departure so soon after his arrival, it is up for debate, but the player may be tempted by the prospect of regular first-team football and the chance to reunite with a former teammate.
Kepa and Fabregas go back a long way
The Spanish international became the most expensive goalkeeper in world football when he was sold to Chelsea in a deal worth £71.6m in August 2018.
Fabregas was still part of the Blues’ first-team squad at the time, and he spent six months training with him until the midfielder left for Monaco.
SportsBoom report that, having already signed two former teammates in Alvaro Morata and Sergi Roberto, Fabregas wants Kepa to join him at Como as well.
Arsenal don’t have much depth in goal
The Gunners only have two keepers in the senior squad. Karl Hein was allowed to leave on loan for Werder Bremen, so the club’s third choice position is shared between the likes of Tommy Setford, Jack Porter and Alexei Rojas.
With that being the case, a replacement would need to be sought if Kepa were to leave the Emirates midway through the season.
For that reason, you can only see Como snapping up the shot-stopper if they pay well in excess of the £5m that it took Arsenal to purchase him at the start of July.
