‘Signing Is Now Imminent’ – Report Reveals That Berta Is Close To Agreeing Another Arsenal Transfer After Eze

Werder Bremen are poised to secure the signature of Arsenal goalkeeper Karl Hein, according to reports in the German media.

Publication Kicker claim that the Estonian international’s “signing is now imminent”, with a deal in place for a permanent transfer.

Hein spent last season out on loan at Real Valladolid and he put in some impressive performances for the La Liga side.

The 23-year-old wasn’t expected to remain at the Emirates beyond the summer, especially after the Gunners recruited Kepa Arrizabalaga to be David Raya’s backup.

Hein won’t be first choice at Bremen

Although the shot-stopper would have been seeking regular game time, Kicker report that he will be deputy to Mio Backhaus.

Hein may still feel that he can get ahead of Backhaus in the pecking order, though, as the young German has just taken the gloves from Michael Zetterer, who has recently left the Bundesliga outfit to join Eintracht Frankfurt.

Arsenal are busy in the transfer market

Sporting director Andrea Berta has been earning his salary over the past few days. As well as negotiating Hein’s sale, he has managed to hijack Tottenham’s move for Eberechi Eze.

It is believed that the Gunners will pay an initial £60m for the 27-year-old, with an additional £7.5m being due in performance-related add-ons. It’s the exact same figure as the player’s expired release clause.

Eze is still set to play in Crystal Palace’s Conference League playoff tie against Fredrikstad on Thursday evening. He is then scheduled to undergo a medical the day after, having already agreed personal terms.

It has been a long road back to Arsenal for the England international. He was released from the club’s academy at the age of 13 and he is now set to return 14 years later.
